Tara Bruno (she/her)
Born in Philly. Made in NYC. Found her heart in Scotland.
Tara is an actress, producer and writer with a Masters in Acting from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. While at RCS, she completed a residency and performed at Shakespeare's Globe in London. She also started writing and performing her own material in the UK, and debuted her one-woman shows, THE AFFAIR, in Glasgow and GOD SIZED HOLE, in London a few months later.
Currently based in NYC, Tara is an insatiable artist. People love her voice, and friends and colleagues describe her as strong, alluring, and open-hearted. Tara has worked regularly in U.S. Regional Theaters, on International and National tours, and in New York, originating roles such as Chevette in Joshua Conkel's smash hit HOUSE OF VON MACRAME at the Obie Award Winning Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn, directed by Nick Leavens. Later she was given the opportunity to work again with Leavens as a part of UNICORNLAND, an eight episode series, written by Lucy Gillespie. UNICORNLAND, won for Best Director and Audience award in the Around International Film Festival, and was an official selection at the New Orleans Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, Toronto Web Festival, and the NY Indie Theatre Film Festival.
Tara is drawn to the characters and stories that highlight or uplift those voices that are often ignored or stigmatized.
In addition to acting, Tara is an accomplished writer, producer and director. She is also a certified addiction recovery coach.
Tara is a recent recipient of a $5,000 Artist Corps Grant for NYC-based working artists. She is being recognized for her debut short film, FREE, coming in 2022.
